That is not an embroidered cap badge, it is the normal metal badge with a cloth backing.

Hi Marc,

I don't know if it's good, bad or ugly. Like the photo showing a bullion badge in use without a photo, or other evidence, it's hard to say. I do, however, like the badge's crisp details.

I wasn't sure when I posted the link but a closer look later shows I was mistaken.

There is another photo in the Cecil Beaton set from a different angle , I wonder if the badge was at some point misidentified as a bullion one ?

The Cecil Beaton wartime photo is also proof that the bullion cap badge existed.
Anyone have a photo/link to this photo ?

Misidentified as a bullion one without a doubt, just a trick of the light.

Hardly confusing and certainly not a "riddle" merely a fact, unless you are suggesting that something, anything whatsoever, does not become extant at the point it is made?

manufactured. If this is the case do you have any clues as to when it was manufactured and why ? If it was made post WW2 then surely others would have appeared on the market by now as it is an extremely rare item. I am referring to the bullion cap badge not the two blazer badges.
