1916GM or 1916 Brass works equally well for me. Economy shall be reserved for WW2 Plastics.

I am certain that the SLI is a good badge and one of the more prominent Dealers is offering one for £100, as a Rare WW1 EI??? I know the N&D is supposed to be a militia (?) Badge! Anyone got any ideas about the Somerset All Brass/GM?

Andy while not having any ideas about the SLI, I have one myself that is virtually bronze in colour and could pass as a SD badge but for the slider.
I do have a number of slidered badges that have been bronzed in the past and have often wondered if it was promotion in the field, Lack of suitable officers headgear....pure conjecture, but someone has gone to a lot of trouble to bronze badges (with braze holes etc) and it was not just to trap the unwary collector.

Jim,
I don't think they are Bronzed, just Gilding metal which has darkened with age, the copper content makes them look almost black!??

For reference this is what I believe to be a fake all brass Dorsetshires. There are a couple of significant differences to the one shown earlier.
