Default Another beret to identify

I picked this up a while ago but cannot identify it.

The beret is a very light grey. The odd 'backing' is more the colour of the RAMC cherry red backing, but I cant identify the teardrop shape, reminiscent of the old WRAC shape.

The beret has been worn, but there are no marks where a cap badge has been affixed to the beret or the backing.

Any ideas?

Bess

Could it be SRR?

I've never seen anyone wearing one with an RAMC badge but they do in the other bits of UKSF...

Looks it - khaki (with a green patch) rather than emerald grey?

Thats a bit more like it. What is the red backing/'badge' though?

There are no markings inside apart from the double line stitching diamond, where the label & plastic has been removed. Black leather band.

Bit of an odd one this . . .

From QARANC website :

Quote:
The Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) beret is grey in colour with a black leather binding. On the front , under the QA cap badge, is a red tear drop patch.
RAMC looks more oval than teardrop.

I think the WRAC had a beech brown teardrop .

Yes, just that the QARANC teardrop is of a scarlet shade, this appears to be cherry / maroon.

Here's my QA beret with tear drop backing. You can see the backing is a brighter red/scarlet. The backing on yours does look like RAMC in the picture on my PC.

Hope this helps.

Terry

No "ghost" of a RAMC officer's bullion badge having been overlaid on the teardrop?

Nothing at all Leigh and its much lighter in colour than the QARANC beret. Attached pics and comparison for colour with my 264 SAS Sigs Sqn beret.
