Default 5th Battalion TF Bedfordshire?

Hi All,

Would this all white metal badge have been that worn by the 5th Battalion Bedfordshire TF, and maybe the 11th territorial battalion too?

They also had a lot of service battalions are they a possibility?

Cheers,

Phil

Are you happy that it's genuine?
The slider crimp is rather low and looks to be a cut rather than crimp mark.

It's modern I am afraid. The quality and slider shape are wrong for a TF badge. The service Bns did not wear all a/m badges..

Sorry, forgot to add that the slider is a silver soldered replacement (looks like Dave Cutforth's work).

It is a repro. If the slider is reattached it is very likely its original one.

Believe I’ve read a badge story on here somewhere that the 5th Battalion Beds wore old stock WM badges at Gallipoli. Whether this is true or not I’ve no idea. Sadly I cannot find the thread.

I'll be looking up Dead Spartan's returns policy later, in that case.

Found an old thread which mentions 5th Battalion. (post # 35)

Oh it definitely is. It has the vestigial tail to the ‘S’, tall ‘IT’, oversized ‘Y’ and gammy ‘N’ as seen on many of the V.B. fakes. Yours is a very poor strike too. Send it back.

Yes, worn by 5th Bedfords up to 1920. The badges were a continuation of the previous VB ones but without the seperate upper scrolls fitted.

I recently returned an item to Robbie. Absolutely no quibble and a pleasure to deal with. A very nice guy in my opinion.

I have always enjoyed excellent service with Dear Spartan, and rank them as a solid dealer. Have no problem dealing with them.
