Default AA Royal Marines

I came across this cap badge in a junk shop in Lincoln a couple of years ago and cannot find out anything about it - despite having a few contacts in 'the corp' itself.

An anodised alluminium Royal Marines cap badge however the globe is silver (as you would expect to see in a two piece officers cap badge)

Any clues out there as to what this badge is? It's jot an error, because it's a deliberate colouring - the badge itself should of course be just plain gold ( or made all black)

It may not show up well on the images, but I assure you, the globe is silver in colour.

Bess

Yours is a one-piece badge. I have a two-piecer, with separate crown, also with silver globe. No maker's mark. Both parts are AA.

I have always believed this to be a cap-badge for RM Warrant Officers.

Two piece ,silver globe is RM Officers William, the WOs badge is 2 piece with a gold coloured globe .
I have nothing on a 1 piece with a silver globe. I suspect its an error Bess but you never know . Paddy may know more ,hes good on RM badges.

William

As Mike says the 2 piece all gold badge is for WO2s and the 2 piece badge with silver globe is for officers but also WO1s. The lion and crown piece with long pin is usually associated with WOs whereas the lion and crown with screw fixing is usually associated with officers but it wouldn't surprise me if they got mixed up every now and then . I have the silver globe version maker marked Firmin, Gaunt London, Gaunt Birmingham, LB&B and Toye London. 1 of each Gaunt London versions below.

Chaps, I know about all about the various two_piece incarnations (I have them all) but this badge is a mystery . . .any info?

It's not an error as it's been purposely made . . .

Hi Bess
It looks like the globe has been painted to me.
Regards
Neil
