Default Royal Sherwood Foresters Officers shako plate

Hi all,

The latest addition to my Notts & Derby album. Royal Sherwood Foresters or Nottinghamshire Regiment of Militia Victorian Officer's shako plate 1869-78.
A silvered plate of crowned star pattern mounted with oak wreath and blue enamel circlet Royal Sherwood Foresters, Arms of Nottingham to centre.

Described in Kipling & King as a shako-plate 1861-69 on page 309 in Vol 1.

Royal Sherwood Foresters or Nottinghamshire Regt. of Militia became 4th Bn. Derbyshire Regt. on Friday 1st July 1881. Royal title granted by Prince Regent in 1813 for Public Duties performed at the Tower of London and the Bank of England etc.

Cheers Dean
