Cool Pioneer corps badge

I have had this Pioneer corps badge in my spares bag for probably twenty years, it's been carried around fairs and viewed by many with a chance to buy or offer an exchange for it, without any takers.

As I am now sorting my badges I suddenly thought about this badge, there was something about it I had missed, yes, it's different, apart from being blackened it has three strengthening rods soldered to the reverse.

Has anyone else ever found Pioneer Corps badges with rods soldered on the reverse?

Thoughts and experiences welcome.

Rob

Is it a form of OSD collar badge?

Poor badge! 20 years and no one wanted it, must be a record.

I agree with Leigh, construction looks like OSD to me, albeit not the finest quality.

Cool Pioneers

I have wondered whether it was an Indian made badge, the extra soldered on reinforcing rods are generally found on Cavalry badges, maybe a special order by an officer, who knows . . !

That is what is so interesting about military badges.

Rob

PS. it is now on my Pioneer board, lots of people missed a bargain!
