Picture seems very blurred on my phone, it could be gallipoli but the southern part of the straights isn't there on the map and you've cropped off the bottom.

Hi Jack,
I think the map covers the area north of the Gallipoli Peninsula, just a small bit of the northern end of the peninsula showing. Cheers, John |

Map looks similar to this one issued in 1912 by the Ottoman War Ministry :
WWI Gallipoli Campaign / Anzac Cove-Ari Burnu-Suvla Bay https://pahor.de/product/wwi-gallipo...e-dardanelles/ .

Isn't there a story about the Allies having very few up to date maps of the Peninsula when they landed or is this just another "myth"?
I once owned a canvas backed map with heaps of pin holes in it, bits of old cellotape and a piece of paper glued over the bay with "Anzac Cove" written on it.. Why do we part with these things? |
