1st Frontenac Militia
Here is my example of the 1st Frontenac Militia.
An assistance with dating this would be most appreciated? Cheers, Roy

I did some digging and not much. There is a Regiment of Frontenac sedentary militia listed in the 1855 census of units. It would eventually be the foundation for the 47th Frontenac Batt (later the 47th Frontenac Regiment). This is the county around Kingston Ontario.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for all your help. It's been great fun being able to add a few Canadian Militia buttons to my collection and learning in the process. Colonial Milia units appear to be very little researched in general, so gleaning any info is significant. Looking forward to finding my next example.. Cheers, Roy

Hi again Roy. I did respond to your message about the British Militia button and just came across this question as well. That is a nice button. Are you able to indicate who the maker was for dating purposes? The reason I ask is that this might be a Georgian crown, not Victorian. There are records of the 1st Frontenac Militia belonging to the Midland District along with the 1st Lennox, 1st Addington, 1st Hastings and 1st Prince Edward Militias raised during the war 0f 1812. This may be a button that originates with this unit as certainly the Frontenac militia would not have a precedence which give it a "1st" designation. Hope this helps.
