Default Old photo quiz

Found this image when rooting around my loft and thought forum members might like to hazard a guess as to who he is! Clues are not English , was killed, and most members will know of his death.

Just had a quick Google for info and images - yes, looks like him.

(As an aside, I drove past the monument to him in Chiselhurst about 10 days ago, havnt been to the monument itself for decades).

Louis that is - not yer boy Franz.

Also found this image. Is there any way of determining the regiment. The jaunty officer is sporting a pair of loverly knees which is odd for the western front. The only odd thing l see is that they seem to be using Ross rifles which Canadians used ?

I think possibly MGC, looking at the officer's collar dog, but I'm not sure.
