Dr J Segger RA Help
I was contacted today by a friend who has just lost her Great-Aunt.
She was left her Great-Grandfather's Afghanistan Medal with 3 Bars (Piewar Kotal, Charaisia and Kabul). He was 6889 Dr J Segger, G/3rd RA or that's what's on the medal. The family had no idea he was a doctor or very much about him at all. Would this be right? or could the Dr be an old rank or appointment? Can anyone please help with anymore information on this chap? Thanks in advance, Bill

Hi Bill
Just a thought: "Dr" - Driver? Graham

That was one idea I had but thought Driver was Dvr and wasn't sure if there would be that rank in the 1880s.
What would the G/3rd RA stand for? Obviously Royal Artillery but not seen a Battery or Regt abbreviated like that before. Bill

I think those early medals would have been named Surgeon So and so rather than doctor.
