Gurkha opinions please - British & Commonwealth Military Badge Forum

As I mentioned in my Gurkha info post, here are some Gurkha badges I have for opinions please. I'm not sure of the of the 4th. It's got some weight and isn't to shinny, I'm quite confident the pre and post 1947 5th badges are good, as I am about the 2 KEO (I have seen a similar badge descibed as officers mess dress? before)
Having said all that, I'm clueless about Gurkha badges, and took a chance with these.

Hi Billy - not convinced about the 4th - the feet on the lugs are too prominent for my liking. The 5thGR with King's crown is defiantly a reproduction ( it has the "tell" of the hanging shard at the bottom of the blades on the right hand side) - the Indian army 5GR is probably okay - I haven't heard of them being copied. The 2GR collar looks okay as well. Tim

When you make captions to the badges, please take into account that the 5th with the Ashoka lions is most probably post 1950. Between independanse in 1947 and India becoming a republic in 1950 Georg IV was still head of state. I do not think they removed his crown during that area.

1950 is definitely post 1947, I think. Perhaps I should have said post independence.

I consider "post 1947" and "post independence" as the same in this context.
The badge with the Ashoka lions is post 1950. I know that "post 1950" is also "post 1947" as a calculation, but then you also can say it is post 1857. The KC badge was still in use after 1947 until 1950.

I know many people see 1947 (independence of India and Pakistan) as a great caesura in badges used. This is not the case. The changes came for India in 1950 and for Pakistan in 1956. In those years they became republics and all things royal (regimental titles, crown's, etc) were removed only then.
