Default 18th (Royal Irish) Regiment of Foot

All,
I am looking for any direction as to the belt plates, etc. worn by the Royal Irish Regiment in America from 1767 to 1776. All that appears to have survived to be dug up archeologically have been enlisted buttons. I am very interested in images or copies of early belt plates, pouch plates, etc.

Parkyns book on Shoulder Belt Plates & Buttons would be a good start. However, it only shows those from around 1800 onwards.

Default Regimental Museums?

Which regimental museum would have any information on the 18th (Royal Irish) Regiment of Foot? The 18th was disbanded in 1922 and my understanding is that it has no relationship to the current RIR. Would there have been a regimental museum in place in 1922, and what would have happened to the collection?
Thanks,
Steve

Default 18th royal irish regiment

hi, as far as im aware no such regimental museum exists for the 18th royal irish regiment, however the national army museum in royal hospital road chelsea london sw3 4ht would be a pretty good guess at having some of the sort of stuff you are looking for, and you are quite correct in saying the present royal irish regiment formed in 1992 is nothing to do with the old royal irish regiment who sadly were disbanded in 1922, good luck in your search. regards john

I believe there is a museum dedicated to the Irish regiments that were3 disbanded in 1822 at Sandhurst.
