Middlesex Regiment, variant or fake?
I am in the process of reorganising some of my regimental boards when I noticed that there was a marked difference between one of my Middlesex Regiment badges and the others that I have. Is it poor quality control, a known variant or a fake?
The badge in question is the one on the right in the double badge photograph. |

Hello
Highwood Yes it is a variant. I have one in my collection. If you look at The Middlesex on plate 14 of John Gaylor's book that one is the same. Regards Neil |

Thank you both for your comments. I will get my Middlesex Regiment album out and look to see if there are any photographs of this variation being worn.

Strange Middlesex badge
I have a similar shaped badge which was one worn by the 10th Btn.

Looks like this maker utilised a collar badge and added the scroll.

It is similar to one version of the collar badge (Churchill 1440) but noticeably larger and with different laurels at the base.
