King's Own Royal Lancaster Officer's ?
Hi all,
I am not particularly confident of knowing the ins and outs of post 1950s badges and wobble earlier if being totally honest. Here is I think a post 1951 King's Own in tarnished cast WM with solid lettering and offset lugs. So is this an Officer's badge or is the stub of a slider post a clue to it being something like a Birmingham Mint badge. Show no mercy, cheers Dean. |

Good news for you is that the B'ham mint were frosted with sliders but with voided letters. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cap-Badge-...AAAOSwNsdXSwrh The brass fakes have the horizontal bar running through the letters. However I am not sure what you have is an officers' badges. The ORs a/a were solid for obvious reasons and there are brass versions marked Gaunt London that may be right. |

Thanks Alan,
That helps narrow it down. A keeper for now I guess, we don't get the numbers of copies here so I punt at markets in the belief that if I don't recognise it then it is worthy of an airing on the Forum. Cheers Dean |

Hi Dean,
I have a similar cast one which is non voided with slider, but bronze/bronzed It is a well made badge and I have not seen similar until you posted yours though yours is in w/m I did think it may have been theatre made for an officer, it has a bit of weight to it at 18g. Photos attached Paul |
