The King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) bullion
Hi all,
A pick up whilst in the UK - The King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) bullion badge. Described in Dress Regulations 1891 as "In gold embroidery, the Lion: below the Lion, the Rose of Lancaster". Photo off my phone. Cheers Dean. |

Agree and believe it came from Bonhams auction house once. I do like the quality of these bullion badges.

Bullion Badge.
A really nice Bullion badge Dean,
Quite possibly worn on a similar cap as shown by an East Lancashire Officer c.1890 in the picture shown Regards Paul Last edited by Paul Spellman; 29-01-15 at 04:46 PM. |

That is a nice one Paul - I have not collected these in the past but have come to appreciate their quality and relative rarity, cheers Dean.

A very nice photo of a Torin type field service cap too. No one to my knowledge has ever done a survey of just how many and which regiments used that type of cap and it is always interesting to see them.

Hi Dean,
A bit of a revival for your thread but thought this image may be of interest. NCO's of the 1st VB Kings Own Royal Lancaster c.1890 A similar badge to yours 2nd from left front row, Interesting to note the remainder are wearing the old Rifle Volunteer bugle type badge, though even with the mixed headress I dont think this was unusual up to 1908. Hi Paul,
A great image thanks. It is always great to see a bullion badge being worn for context and even better that it is in contrast to the older bugle badge of the Rifle Volunteers as you say. I really appreciate you sharing it, cheers Dean. |
