Default 1st Lanarkshire RV badge

Am I right in thinking that this was worn on the FSC? I have seen a few sold in Bosleys catalogues as such but did it also double up as a collar badge?

The serfi'ed 1 has been pieced in as it was made separately to the bugle.

Alan,

Not just Lanarkshire, its a generic badge, made for any RVC and with the ability to fit any numeral inside it. I am unsure why that County gets so many of these attributed to it rather than any other.

Normally WM for a RVC or probably Blackened Brass which yours may once have been.

Also should be a shako badge or a glengarry badge worn well before the introduction on the FSC.

regards

Not only generic to several counties but also to several countries. Some Australian colonies wore badges similar to this, especially NSW and South Australia, and possibly worn elsewhere in the empire as well. I have a few variations of this design but not this exact example.
