A well known and accepted variant. Sometimes referred to a tombstone lugs.

Information here https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ight=tombstone

Thanks Luke,
A question do any other badge types have these so called tomb stone lugs?
I didn’t realise but today I have been looking through my KOYLI badges and this type has some interest to me
Kind regards Chay

I think it’s more to do with these being a part of a two piece shoulder title.

Interesting thought! I will measure the lugs and I think they are quite long and would cause shoulder trauma.

The tombstones are 16mm long and I have one on the way so I have happened upon five same type same maker by chance and without any effort.

KLR has found the reference for the change from a slider to the oblong lugs and dated it to the 1930s.

Kind regards Chay

Amazing thanks Luke !
The whole scenario of the change over seems quite unusual to me? I do think the tombstone attachment is ultra heavy duty when compared to a slider!
Kind regards Chay

I just had a search on the internet and this came up from a dealer in doncaster home of the KOYLI museum where this badge with tombstone attachments is called a slouch hat badge.

The sealed pattern was some years previously so whilst it was worn on slouch hats it was not designed for the WW2 hat.

Hello,

My question relates to the ww2 KOYLI officers SD CAP BADGE felt. Was the green felt cut to size in anyway behind the badge or was it just a square of felt? Any illustrative pictures would be greatly appreciated.
