20 years is re-assuring. BP & Co were indeed Bent Parker who were taken over by Gaunts around 1920 (according to Linaker & Dines Cavalry arm badge book). If you look at the slider stamp thread you'll see my 12th London with a Jennens & Co. stamp which came from a similar source as I mentioned above. The seller here told me he worked in the B'Ham factories and used to collect ex-display badges and this was one of them. The font is very similar.

Bent & Parker are always marked B&P occasionally with Co or & Co after, they were taken over by Gaunt in 1916.
Fattorini hardly made any military badges except the 1WW vol units, otherwise lapel badges etc - they are still going strong.

Not always B&P as this badge shows and not always Co this one has LTD.

Has anyone come across a firm of makers called
Pitt & Swatkin.

They appear in a Min of Supply wartime badge contracts ledger.
It sounds possible that it was a (?temporary) union of Charles Pitt (best known as button manufacturers) and Swatkins (founded 1898 still exists as a silverware firm acc website)

A fake WD mark. Truly fake as I don't believe that it was ever used on badges. The badge is allegedly a 2nd Vb Norfolks.

I've got an RA beret badge with slider marked BUTTONS LTD B'HAM and a RAOC badge with slider marked BUTTONS LTD BIRMINGHAM. Will try to get scans of these to add to the grouping.

Any ideas about this maker?

A directory of Makers Marks will be a great tool for the Badge Collectors. As a suggestion - One directory containing all makers marks divided by country of use. British, Canadian, Australian and New Zeeland badges all seem to have used the same Makers Mark, what makes this a great reference is the information on "Which Makers Mark, In Which Style, is on What Badge of What country" . The two Maker Mark (British/CEF) pages on the site home page could be combined together as one subject containing (at present) two countries. What will be interesting to find out - did a "MAKER" use the same ID plate, inscription, stamp ... for different countries. I suspect so!

These are early 1950s badges. Buttons were post WW2.
