Militia Engineers attached to the Volunteers wore the collar badge ( whatever locomotive it represents ) in gm rather than white metal.


Cant find pictures of the examples I used to own at the moment.

I found the badges I was looking for. The badges on the red background were part of my collection at one time.

The badges on the blue backgrounds belonged to a Crewe collector who sold most of his stuff to Hugh King. The bottom badges on blue are a Militia Engineers helmet plate and a gm collar,both worn by the Militia Engineers who were attached to the 2nd Cheshire(Railway) Engineer Volunteers.

I once went to a militaria fair held at the R.E. museum where stalls were set up amongst some of the larger exhibits. One stall holder was totally bemused by the number of wags, myself included, who asked him how much he was asking for the Hawker Harrier. By the end of the day the joke was wearing a bit thin.
