Default beret badge identification

I am researching a photograph that was taken sometime during Second World War. I have attached a photo of the beret. Can anyone tell me the regiment?

Hi,

Are you sure this is WW2, look at the dress, is it Battledress or Service Dress? Possibly WW1 or thereafter.

The shape reminds me of the 186th Infantry Bn. Also known as the Kent Overseas Bn. Kent Ontario. Perpetuated in the Essex and Kent Scottish. The bonnet is smaller than WW1 types as well. Google them.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Clay

I've had another look and I believe it to be WW2, Canadian. Kent Regiment, a Machine Gun Bn. Similar in shape to the above badge. The side branches of the Maple Leaf are somewhat shorter and not as pronounced as the above referenced badge. They are not as upswept either. I failed on initial view to account for the slight angle of the soldier's head.

Maybe someone else has an opinion to share?

Cheers,
Clay

Default Beret Badge Identification......

Flatdog:
Sorry, I must disagree with your ID- the badge outline looks very much like either the 85th, 185th, 193rd, 219th, or 246th Bns CEF, first war era.
I do agree that if bern is able to show the uniform being worn in the pic, that should clarify that it is WWI, or not.
Nice to see the dicing on the balmoral (not beret, bern!).
Thant would be indicative of one of the Bns of the Cape Breton Highlanders Bns.
Cheers,
John S.

From the image, you have an officer of the 85th Battalion, 4 Canadian Division Canadian Corps, First World War. Note the maple leaf devises on his sleeves. These were patches only worn by officers of 4 Division.
