Default Royal Canadian Flying Corps 1918

With the prospect of the RCFC being formed in 1918 there was a prototype of a pilot's brevet designed. It never went ahead but there were reproductions made of it. Has anyone seen these repros or know how to purchase one of them. I know repros are not kosher but this was not an official brevet in the end.
Thanks
Doug

You mean this one? Samples were made and a few survive. I've not seen any of the copies but I believe one was bought a short while back for a huge sum in the US.

Thanks for the information. In" Eagles Recalled" by Warren Carroll, he indicated that reproductions had been made but that was back in 1993. I would imagine that if any originals surfaced, they would be very pricey. Thanks again.

I remember this one which sold from a dealer in Florida I think. I was scrambling. like most, to figure out if it was a repro or not. My understanding at the time was that there were 5 originals known and all were accounted for at the time of the auction. I seem to recall the story that a decade or two after the originals were produced a small batch had been made as "commemoratives" or some such thing. The one in your image and that auction may have been one of those. There were subtle differences in the crown and shape of the bottom felt relative to the ones in the War Museum. Still a pretty rare item.
