Default Down The Channel ! ! !

Chaps, presumably this is something to do with maritime mine clearance, but can anyone identify what/who it relates to?

It's small, the size of a sweetheart or association badge.

Many thanks

Bess

Cool Down the channel

From the presence of two brooms and a sea mine I would say it was a minesweeper association badge.

Thanks chaps, yes clearly something to do with maritime minesweeping. I thought the phrase and the particular 3 exclamation mark's would throw something up on a search on the 'electronic interweb' but nothing so far..

It is quite a cute little badge to be fair.

Regards to all

Bess

Some "Minesweepers" WWI Christmas cards feature similar designs, the mine and brooms.

Could "Down The Channel" have a double meaning refering not only to the English Channel but also swreping the gutter or drain?

Quite possibly Leigh. It does have that WW1 feel to it with the blue enamel . My guess is an early sweetheart or association badge. It would be nice to find out a little bit about it specifically.
