Does anybody have more info on this commando title in bullion?
Supposedly WWII.

Similar Bullion Badge with Commando Trained Soldier (not Cdo Group post war) badge considered post war - but the letters are a bit more even and chunky - wish I could find my references - here are images images of the example I refer too. I wonder if the one illustrated by Boes is a variant?

This site shows a 'similar' title , described as :

An interesting site Mike - alas I am treating content with caution.

I post links I find in the hope that they will encourage other members to express their opinions and then perhaps someone will be able to provide a definitive answer.

Sometimes I'm completely off the mark !

I for one always appreciate attention being drawn to new sites - alas that one is flawed, both in terms of spurious narrative and dubious titles (the No.2 COMMANDO, No.4 COMMANDO and upper COMMANDO red on black titles for example are well known fakes). No doubt the vendor sells good items, but unfortunately the research is not what it should be.

Thanks Marc - that's what I was looking for
Boes92 may have a variant given the form of letters - unsure if WW2 though.

That's interesting Marc. I work with Naval commando's every day and have yet to see such a title worn! I see the white on blue Royal Navy Commando title worn on blue working rig, I see the gold on navy blue commando knife tombstone badge worn on No 1 rig on the cuff, and the gold bullion on navy blue triangular commando knife on the upper arm on mess dress, but a plain Commando title, I have yet to see being worn?

Regards

Tony

No idea if it is worn, however it is still in the 2020 Defence Clothing Catalogue. As is a badge I have never seen.

Royal Marines (RM),Formation, Commando, FRMU(Future Royal Marines Uniform). Embroidered black on green, Inverted dagger with "S" shaped hand guard. 50mm wide.

The COMMANDO s/t was worn on the blue suit until the introduction of the dagger on the upper left arm. Some time in the early 80s iirc.
