Default Herts RV helmet plate

A recent acquisition which IMO has been repaired to a very high degree and also to have added modern replacement loops.

Apologies for the photography, it's been a long day . . !

I feel this badge which should have been IMO gold and silver gilt and has lost this due to the heat used to repair and replace the loops, I think there has been a repair although very well executed to the top left of the star.

The loops are replaced IMO and are not really in keeping with a helmet plate of this era.

Your thoughts appreciated, thanks for looking.

Rob

Default Helmet plate

64 views and no comments so far, my apologies for the spelling of "helmet" in the first post.
Any Hertfordshire collectors thoughts?

Its an impressive badge, but the quality isn't brilliant imho.

Default Helmet plate

Andy, this is a recent acquisition which I think has seen some use and IMO been repaired very well as there appears to have a hairline crack in the top LH ray of the star.
Also I feel that the loops have been added at some point, they are IMO modern as regarding the helmet plate. The badge has lost it's finish probably due to heat when repaired and polishing.

I have a repro one, and there quite a few difference’s between them, which I feel is a good sign.

Thanks for the comment, I feel this one has some age to it and has seen some service.

Rob.

As you say, it has some age to it, appears to have been sympathetically repaired and the Stag appears to be a good clear example.

I like it and would say it's a genuine period item.

Regards.

Brian.

Brian, thank you for your comment, it has been polished as well, there is residue of polish left in the rays of the star, I think it will go down well with my other ranks version.
Regards Rob
