Where Did You Get That Hat?
Two nice clear images of regimental headdress.
The Cameronian wears an outsize Tam O'Shanter, the Caubeen - officially the Bonnet, Drab - worn by a soldier of 8th (Irish) Bn The King's Regiment serving in 54th Division, his red and white titles indicating a date in mid-1943 shortly before 54th Division was disbanded. Jon |

Those are a bit "over the top" so to say. Look more like Frenchmen. Was the 8th Bn. caubeen supposed to be worn with the badge on the right side?

The Cameronian is not wearing the SR shoulder titles so he might be OTC.

I think he's wearing the metal "SR" title on the shoulder strap and regimental black buttons - no tartan patch behind his badge.
