Hello Bill, The SD&G Highlanders badge is recent issue, sometime from the 1980's on. The Highland Fusiliers are mm 82, which is 1982. The Highland Fusiliers were granted the Royal honour in 1998. The Highland Fusiliers were formed by the amalgamation of the Highland Light Infantry and the Scots Fusiliers in 1965, so the embroidered shoulder title dates from 1965ish through the early 1970's, when battledress was replaced by the CF uniform. The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders title was approved in 1954, replacing the barrel pattern worn by the unit during the SWW. Again, it was worn until battledress was replaced in the early 70's. Question, what colour is the field on that title? It should be green, but appears to be blue? The South Alberta Light Horse title was approved shortly after the regiment was formed by amalgamation of the South Alberta Regiment, the 68 LAA Regiment (formerly the 15 Alberta Light Horse), and the 41st Anti-Tank Regiment in 1954. Again, the title was worn until bd was replaced. The 48th Highlanders title dates from the 1960's. (The mesh backing replaced the cotton backing in the early 1960's.)

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the reply. The Camerons is green, just appears blue in the pic. Fantastic information to be going on with in my quest for knowledge on these titles. I think I have the bug again for Canadian Scottish items...don't tell the other half, she wouldn't appreciate it Is the mm82 just a dating mark or a makers mark too? Definitely will be buying from these two dealers again, in fact waiting for another couple of items to arrive. All the best, Bill

The maker's mark on the Highland Fusiliers' collars looks like PMP - Pressed Metal Products out of Vancouver.

Hi Bill, The Seaforth titles are tricky to date, but the sans serif lettering is likely the later issue, eg post 1948 through unification.
