Hi Brian, Thanks, they are indeed Reuteler anodised collars. Will get out the board & take a picture. Cheers, Dave

Default SAS Collars

Hi Brian, hopefully this helps. As you can see there are no markings at all. I don't think that the earlier badges by Reuteler were marked. Cheers, Dave

Default badges

Hi Dave
Many thanks for the picture mate, I can say that these arent the Reuteler anodised collar badges in question, they dont have the Reuteler loops which are on the ones he produced, ( have seen images of them from other collectors ).
The collar badges you have are British made collars for the Rhodesian SAS, quite scarce, made by gaunt in the 70's, they also produced beret badges with the same thick loop fixing.

cheers
Brian

Thanks Brian, as they came with a set of Rhodesian cap & collars, most of which are on the board posted, I assumed they were Reuteler made. Cheers, Dave

Default Rhodesian Badges

For interest, The RLI mess dress, Pay Corps & RhACR collars were all anodised aluminium. The most common found are silver for the RLI mess dress collars, bi-metal for the Pay Corps & white metal for the RhACR collars.

Hi Brian, What do you think of these two SAS collars? The right hand one appears to be an officers gilt one, but the left hand one appears to be an anodised one. Cheers, Dave

I will only say this. For a regiment that was one of the smallest in the Rhodesian Security Forces there appears that there has always been an abundance of different styles of the reverse of their badges and one would have to ask why.

Perhaps its because there were various sources of their kit. Initially, probably most came from the UK & after 1965/70 local manufacturers made & supplied the kit?
Cheers, Dave
