New Canadian Army Command Badge

One of the new Canadian Army Command badges just came up for auction on ebay:

It looks like a legit Carat Med makers mark. However, I have not heard that these are being issued yet. The seller appears to be from China.

What do you think? Is it real, fake, diverted from the production line?

Interesting auction. You have raised some good questions about the badge. Does anyone have an example for comparison?

I would say its a knock off, if you look at the rest of his items, including Disney crap.

I talked to someone at the Army Headquarters today and he did not believe the new command badges are being issued yet, he certainly has not been issued one.

I see that the ebay badge has been sold.

BTW is it was also mentioned to me that the Army HQ staff will be issued a diamond sleeve patch (colours unknown) in lieu of divisional patches.

Hello Jim, The HQ will apparently wear a formation sign similar to First Cdn Army in the SWW. The training establishments are to supposedly wear a patch similar to 1 Cdn Corps.

A note re the new Canadian formation signs. The new div patches are a velour (for lack of a better word) material with a merrowed border. The ones I have seen so far have a plastic backing.

I'm tempted to pick it up and put it on my uniform, just to see if anyone actually notices!

IRT the new Div patches, all the ones I have seen are plastic backed as well, and curl horribly once dry cleaned!

The command badge is mm Carat Med 2015. Is this Carat Media? That company is listed as a media company?

3 Div is already on their second issue, the first issue was the wrong colour?
I have seen a few badges made by Carat Med. Not sure if it's the same media company or not, I suspect not. Probably a small company in PQ.

Re the 3 Canadian Division patches, I heard that the first issue was an off colour and needed to be replaced?

I was thinking that Carat Med may have a factory in China, but it appears that their manufacturing plant is in Canada?
