Hi Bryan,

Yes a very nice example, a good find some the Re collector.

A bit of a basic question as we are on the topic of sweethearts - but are Boer War example especially rare? I have seen a few now and again but wondered what anyones thoughts were who collect these.

Cheers, Roy.

This is the nicest one I have come across.

Just one wee stone missing....I hope its not a diamond!

For the record it sold for 41 pounds. I know if I was an RE collector I certainly would have gone for it, its a really nice example!

That's nice Rob, I'm on the look out for one. Before Christmas I was watching a silver Boer War RA brooch and it was a stunner, I let it go though, twice, kind of regretting it now.

Some more of my sweethearts including uniform badges that have been brooched.

My favourites tend to change over time.

P.B.

Loved the one quoted above posted by Nick (scotch), for obvious reasons, My example is hallmarked for Birmingham 1914 and carries the Robert Chandler makers mark.
The second one is a nice copper shamrock motif mounted on a silver sword, no hallmarks.

Quality always remains a breed apart and is invariably, very expensive indeed, so yes, the Parachute Regiment, whilst not old, in particular, is really superb, in my opinion.

Anyway, I've only got a few because if I start with sweethearts it will be yet another distraction from badges, grenades, caps, helmets, hackles, tanks...

But these are my 2 favourites, first is the Garrard & Co Para Regt brooch, then not really a sweetheart, my MGC veterans pin by Thomas Mott

Great example, thanks for sharing Grevisk,
my example is also hall marked Birmingham, Robert Chandler, but dated 1915.

Cheers Nick

Here is my small collection which includes a couple of buttonhole Regtl. Assn. badges - the 5th Bn's KLR and LNL's being two favourites.
The 6th (Rifle) Bn KLR (H/M 1914) being my favourite sweetheart

My only sweetheart piece (thanks to Alan O) 9th London, Queen Vic's Rifles. A dainty little buttonhole badge. Not as spectacular as some of the badges being shown, but the regiment of my Grandfather in WW1, so special to me.

That's really sweet Tim, I like it, I imagine a little harder to find?
