Default 'Forage Indian Pattern' Black CFS cap odd badge fixing

Hi, I recently acquired an unbadged black forage cap, which has seen better days. Hopefully from the photo's you should be able to see a sewn in brass fixing, which I haven't come across before, particularly as the there are two holes for a conventional cap badge. Can anyone shed a light? The brass fixing protrudes through the fabric which suggests that something slides over it, but I haven't much idea as to what - two badges?

Cheers John

Sort of, mines more rectangular (unless its the angle on your photo) 30mm x 20mm there are 4 equally spaced stitch hole along the longest side.

John
