122nd CEF Muskoka Rare Pattern
Picked this up at the Toronto Military Show this morning - only the second one I've ever seen, the first being Bill A's as posted in the CEF Gallery. Maker marked Stanley & Aylward Toronto with their characteristic heavy wire lugs. At $120 a steal, I think!!
Cheers, Ian. |

Well done Ian! I think you got a bargain.
How was the show?

Hi Bill,
I attended the Etobicoke show this morning. The attendence was not it's usual jammed packed/chaotic affair which made moving around and catching up with fellow collectors/dealers much more enjoyable. There was some great items up for sale...The 2 that stand out for me was General McNaughton's First Canadian Army Car Pennant and a Military General Service Medal (Fort Detroit Clasp) to an Indian Chief. As for my find...I picked up a nice Regiment de Beauce Cap Badge. Mike Kennelly

Yes - good show, I agree with Mike's assessment. I found a few bargains for sure (on another post it looks like I found a genuine and fairly rare British 19th PWO Hussars cap badge for which I totally owe my "B&CMBF education"!).
I met Charles Donaldson, Vern's son, for the first time. Vern's famous CEF 9th Bn badge is off the market for a while - Charles is a collector too! Cheers, Ian. |
