Tanks Corps Badge & RTR Hackle
Hello Everyone.
I'm looking for opinions on this Badge and Hackle. From my own research I'm certain that they were not originally worn together as the feather hackle came in around 1954, and the Tank Corps badges went out in the 20's. I'm only posting them here as one because they were purchased together, and with them being from different periods has made me doubt if they're both original pieces: The badge has lugs for one thing, which seems to be a red flag judging by some other threads here. And the voiding isn't the best. Can't find much on the Hackle either way though. Any advice welcome, Thanks in advance. |

The cap badge is, in my opinion, a fake. I’ve never seen an original Tank Corps badge on lugs, sorry

Hi Jonan,
Your Hackle looks to have been through the wars, tatty and faded, and looks like it may have been clipped on the top to tidy it up a bit, nonetheless it looks to be original but old. Trying to remember the Monty Python dead parrot sketch.......... Have attached piccy of my issued Hackles for comparison. Kevin |

You've clearly looked after yours far better than the previous owner(s) of this one, it looks lovely! I'll probably keep the hackle in my display cabinet, but keep an eye out for a replacement at some point. It does make me wonder if the wear to mine was deliberate, as it was being sold as a WW1 piece. It was only after receiving it that I properly researched the hackles and found out it couldn't possibly be that old. Moral of the story;always do your research! Anyway, thanks for the help Kevin. If anyone else has any further info or advice, it's more than welcome. |
