Cameron Hldrs Sporran Badge
Hi all,
Can anyone date this Cameron Hldrs Sporran Badge, all the details appear to be sharp with a Firmin London (small tablet) to the rear as per the photo, I had read somewhere that it was only used for a short period after 1902 and possibly an officers as it's metal appears to be bronze but can't find the article? Thanks Gerry |

I do not know this badge, but it certainly is not for the Sporran. Some form of headgear badge. It is indeed bronze and a very nice piece, whatever it is.

All,
Thanks for the reply, I will be keeping it in my collection for the moment but you never know, with regards to the time from 1902 until when? and how scarce is it as I have not come across one like it before. Gerry |

Hello Gerry,
i am so sorry, but after further research, i was wrong in my reply. It's not a cap badge as i said, but the collar badge. It's smaller. And i have the same in my collection with the Firmin markings. In Churchill's book (fig 1736), it was worn officially between 1902 and 1911 (Dress Regulations), in fact during the WW1. After 1911, the collar badge was a thistle and a crown in bronze (fig 1737) And yes, it's a scarce item. Regards. Jean-Marie |

The Seaforth Hldrs. had bronze OSD collars as well, and I now recall that this is indeed a collar badge. It would seem they were not worn for long, if at all.
