Default Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) Cap Tally

Early Naval Ratings wore the Royal Flying Corp Cap Tally, however, here is proof that a RNAS cap tally existed. You probably cannot read it, however, be assured, I can on the postcard in my collection.

Amazing, thanks for sharing that. Easy to get one, just look around where you find unicorn droppings!
Cheers,
Alex

Further to the last. The Osprey Military "Men at Arms" book on British Air Forces 1914-18 (1) has a photograph of RN ratings of the Naval Wing at the Central Flying School Upavon wearing Royal Flying Corp cap tallies.

Default RNAS CPOs Cap Badge

A postcard listed on eBay tonight, 15 March 2024, went for £26.00. With one minute to go it was just under £4.00. I bid £25 but was out bid.

So what was different about this postcard. I cannot show it since I did not win it. The postcard showed a photograph of a CPO Royal Naval Air Service Anti Aircraft Company, wearing a CPOs cap badge (without laurel leaves pre 1922) but above the anchor was the title RNAS. This badge is not listed and I have never seen it before.

Obviously as rare or rarer than the photograph I have of a rating wearing a RNAS cap tally.

Well done if you won it and realized the rarity of the postcard. It may have been "tatty" but it is a gem. Again rocking horse ...t.

Fantastic, thanks for sharing that. That's a new cap badge for me and one that must be incredibly rare.
Cheers,
Alex

A screenshot so it is saved for reference after ebay deletes it.
