Thanks Chris,
This will be a great help. Thanks for using your expertise to help a new collector. I had quite a good collection whilst serving with the RAOC in the early 80,s but like a fool sold it off when I left. Cheers Gordon |

Second page spelling Guant should be Gaunt.

Currently working on calculating all the usage dates reconciling against units active service date. Of note - I have identified 13 different companies who made anodised cap badges and many, many maker marks and different sliders. The sliders chapter is currently at around 55 pages A5 size. There are currently or envisage approx 25 chapters and approx. 10 appendixes for an anticipated 400-500 page production. Of course, this may all change as time goes on. Regards Chris |

I have just spoken (12th of March 2009) with members of the Queen's Royal Lancers here is the result:
All Other Ranks wear a metal version of the 'Motto' on a red backing, same size as the old 17/21st Badge. All Other Ranks were "given" a bronze version for wear on exercise, allthough this was very rarely worn if at all. No one can remember seeing it being worn. Officers wear a smaller version, inculding the RSM. The new 'cloth' arm Chad (motto with Lances) is worn by the Provost Sergeant on a red brassard. The metal version as far as he and the QM can remember was never worn, they were all returned to the manufacturer. These are the metal badges sold by John Gaylor, just post formation of the QRL and just prior to his departure. Last edited by 54Bty; 09-02-22 at 05:30 PM. |
