Default Suffolk Regt officers badge

I have had this Suffolk Regt officers badge for several years and wonder whether it was a privately purchased item.

Your thoughts welcomed.

What makes a collar rather than a cap please - the size, the materials, length of fittings? ( Not disagreeing, just don't know).

Reversed metals Rob, possibly a militia badge of sorts.

Smile Officers badge fixings

Whilst it is generally accepted that officers cap badges have blades, I think there are exceptions, especially on private purchased badges which often have loops.

This could well be either a collar or a cap badge and as Keith says with reversed metals it is probably for a militia Btn.

Has anyone else seen one of these?

Rob

Rob,
I think Keith is on the right track and to be honest I've seen more Officers "Silver" cap badges with lugs than blades! I'd say it is probably a late Militia period Officers cap badge.

My assessment is the same as Andy's above. Nice looking and rare badge.

Smile Suffolk Regt officers badge

Many thanks chaps for your opinions on this badge, it is one of my more treasured items which came by way of an exchange.

Although at the time I did feel that the other party had probably the better deal, I thought that this was a fairly scarce item and as I do not especially collect headdress or uniforms it is nice to pass on these items to someone who is more interested than I am and probably has more space.

Regards Rob
