opinion on these 2 canadian parachute wings
Hi,
May I have your opinion on these 2 canadian parachute wings. The wings of the top one have been white painted. I assume they are post-war / 50's. Kind regards Normandie18 20210411_192812.jpg 20210411_192839.jpg |

Hi Bill,
I think both are original, I may be wrong But to be more precise I try to know when these wings have been worn. Kind regards Normandie18 |

Ok.
The top one appears to have been blanco'd? It looks like the wartime pattern. The second one is a Type 8 in Joyce's reference. Circa 1949.

Thanks for your help Bill ! Indeed, the top one have been blanco'd. Appart from the marple leaf I don't see other difference with the other wings.

Do you have a copy of Ken Joyce's JUMP WINGS? That is the essential reference.
Note the colour of the maple leaf, the weight of the embroidery in the shroud lines, the up-sweet of the wings, and the width of the canopy. There may be more details that are hidden by the blanco.

As Bill mentioned, the paint on that wing does hide a telltale feature, more in relation to the thread colour. However, there are other features that are indicative of a post-war wing. IMO, both are original post-war wings.

Yes, absolutely post-war. Ken's book will help you identify the type and year(s) of production.
