Default Unknown Button/Cipher

Can anyone ID the cipher/regiment here, please?

I have this query posted on another thread (HERE) if of any use.

Many thanks,

Hi Peter,

(I have updated both posts, so the details aren't lost).

The initials are actually "RGT". It is a British Yeomanry button to the "Repton & Gresley Troop", pre 1864. According to the book, it looks as if all the buttons were made in Gilt.

Repton & Gresley Troop : 1832: Raised. 1838: Disbanded. 1843: Re-raised. 1864: Regimented as the Derbyshire Yeomanry Cavalry.

(Source : Ripley & Darmanin's book on Yeomanry buttons. Page 10 Nos. 21 Button in Gilt).

Cheers

Ian
