Default Unknown titles

Continuing the process of inventorying my collection. Can't find these two in previous threads/archives; so, the usual questions: unit, period, and originality? Thanks for the help!

Royal Victoria Regiment; The Regiment was formed in 1960 as a result of the amalgamation of all the Citizen Military Forces infantry battalions in Victoria. The regiment was formed in 1960 as the Victoria Regiment as part of the reorganisation of the Australian Army by the amalgamation of the six existing infantry regiments in Victoria:

Victorian Scottish Regiment
Royal Melbourne Regiment
Melbourne Rifles
North Western Victorian Regiment
The Northern Victorian Regiment
Hume Regiment

The border on the Australian title indicates pre 1960.

Thanks for your help identifying this title. As to how it ended up so far from home, I don't recall how I happened to acquire this particular patch, but for over 40 years I've been responsible for hauling bits of militaria away from where they belong to my relatively remote location...

Did these para-military organizations ever have any actual military function other than to supply conscripts with some sense of military discipline?

I don't want to cause any problems or concerns but the 3rd & 5th photos in the first link look a bit worrying. (Europe '30s & '40s)

I think 'paramilitary' is a stretch. Think Knights of Columbus and Odd fellows, not Phalangists and Red Shirts and you'll be closer to the mark. Jonquiere, BTW, is famous - for a given value of 'famous' - for its blueberry festival and its mascot, 'Bleuay', a giant animated berry. No that's frightening!
