Default 8th Army Epaulettes: RE or RA?

A couple of epaulette slip ons with the 8th Army device and arm of service strips... depending on how they would be worn, they could refer to the Royal Artillery or Royal Engineers, I guess, but was there a distinctive way to wear the arm of service insignia on slip ons? As a matter of fact, 1st Division wore the Divisional white triangle superimposed on the red/blue RA diamond... any hints?

On second thoughts: the lot comprehended two epaulettes with red/blue arm of service strips, therefore they should be considered as a RA pair, and ONE slip on with blue/red arm of service strip, and this should be a Royal Engineers device....

If they are worn as in the first picture (red to the front) then you have RA, worn with blue to the front (change them round in the picture) then it is RE.

Iìm afraid that if I change the epaulettes of the first picture round there will still be the RED to the FRONT, isn't it?

No, I'm sorry and you are (obviously) right, I'd have the BLUE to the front!
