Ne problema - that's an interesting little item that Lt Pierson might have been wearing when he earned his Military Cross (though presumably he shouldn't have been, on a trench raid) and when wounded.

I'm a complete novice at this but did a Google search , got a couple of results but nowhere near as much information as above.
Just to show that there can be information about that even amateurs can find. "SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 21 AUGUST, 1917. 8631 North'n R.—. Lt. J. E. M. Pierson, M.C., Spec. Res. Bn., to be actg. Capt. whilst comdg. a Co. 15th July 1917. SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 15 DECEMBER, 1920. 12373 3rd North'n. R.—Capts., and retain the rank of Capt.: — R. P. Needham. J. E. M. Pierson, M.C. " |

Yes, a good googling can usually throw up detail on British army officers, London Gazette entries etc, I've found a fair amount of info that way on officers whose caps or berets etc I've aquired.
An online regimental history for 1 NN would be good to find. |
