I believe though that the truck is an 8cwt as in CS8 (commercial series 8cwt)or the Radio truck which was a PU8 (Pick up 8cwt) which is my dream vehicle. http://www.milweb.net/webverts/57726/ The 15cwt Morris truck having a single aero style screen if I recall correctly, not the full(split)screen as on the vehicle in the image. I chink it may be a Morris Commercial CDSW 30cwt 6x4, the winch is the clue and the artillery markings would make it a LAA bofors tractor.

That would make sense though I'm not familiar with that model but was certain the truck wasn't a 15cwt. I haven't dabbled in military vehicles for a long time now but if I had the means one of these iconic Morris trucks would be at the top of my list. The example hat I posted the link to is a vehicle that I have had the pleasure of viewing at close quarters on several occasions and it really is stunning, not least due to its markings which are very close to home for me. Here is an image of the 30cwt type truck that Rob mentions. This one without the full screen and with wider tyres which unlike the vehicle in jo's original post seem to be evident on most of the examples I can find images of online.

That's an earlier Field Artillery Tractor.
The bofors tractor looks like this from the side. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/attachment...1&d=1283712632 There was also a breakdown version. Rob |
