Hi Brian,
I saw this a while back and to me its a made up fantasy piece. The jacket and side cap are in fact a UDF ACF pre war (c.1930's) grey green uniform, worn as far as I am aware only in the union. The titles and cap badge appear to be WWII economy issues. The 8th army flashes appear out of place on this uniform. There are no collar badges where there should be. The medal ribbons look very new and also out of place for a union worn tunic.

So thats my two cents worth.
Steven

Hullo Gents
Apologies for not responding earlier. I do agree that this uniform has been made up. SA Sigs personnel were attached to the 8th Army in the Western Desert (but wore 1st SA Div diamond flashes) and in Italy where the 8th Army flash was worn. This grey/green uniform was worn prior to the war and therefore does not match. By the time the 8th Army flash was being worn by South Africans they were all in standard battledress uniforms.

Have attached a few photos of my late father in uniform and one of Lt Col Myers the CO of SA C Sigs in Italy for interest.
