There are fakes made of the metal flash and the older cloth company tac badges. I served with 61 for a while in SWA / Angola and all the badges in the album at the following link come from their stores. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...p?albumid=1929

Thanks for replying.

I have an artillery patch and the backing is white, I have seen a number with black backing and others with white backing, are they both correct? You have a nice set of these, thanks for the link.

Brian

P.S. I have just finished the Roland de Vries book, heavy going in places but an eye opener, one of the better "Border War" publications. Covers most of 61 Mech ops.

Hullo Brian

There were some early pattern 61 Mech Inf company patches made in colours. They were not worn for very long and were quickly withdrawn.

Roland de Vries is known for his ability to summarise doctrinal theory into a practical methodology for the soldier on the ground. He was a commander of 61 at one time and also was appointed to the Army College in Pretoria because of his knowledge.

Kind regards

Dudley
