Was wondering as nobody in the Denbigh 29th (9th Batt) I.Y is going to have 8 bars so he must have also been with another regiment.

This is definitely one for Howard (Cardiffbloke)....... Lt.Col. Ward DHY (ex- 2DG Queens Bays) pictured, possibly in 1911, looks to be the very same Captain T Ward 2DG of 2nd Boer War "fame" ?

The photo right is The Right Rev. Alfred George Edwards, Bishop of St Asaph, Flintshire, Lt.Col. H P Sykes CO and Lt.Col. Ward circa 1909 (possibly 1911 - investiture medal?).

Y/DENBIGH Brass Shoulder Title; 1917-22.
Pattern card held at the IWM:- Standard No. 9466 1917 Metal 4480/1897 Specn. 888A Denbighshire Yeomanry; approved by (illegible) Col C.I.O for ADDC 14/5/17; authority given as ACD/Patterns/3507 & 213 11.4.16; in red ink, Obsolete 8/6/22 Auth ACD/414/1921 9/Arty/7233 (JA2)/5.4.22 & S of CID/1642/1.

So it appears that the 24th (DHY) Bth RWF wore their Y/Denbigh shoulder title? I am not entirely sure if the "Y" was braised to the "DENBIGH" ..... I am sure somebody will have an example? The image below is an altered T/Y/DENBIGH image. The shoulder title has two split pins and this would suggest an all in one shoulder title.

Griff

On the War Memorial in Denbigh town the fallen are named with the following unit name
Denbighshire (Hussars) Yeomanry and also Denbighshire (Hussars) Imperial Yeomanry.
I can only presume that the latter had served pre 1908 and possibly in the Boer War.

Sut Mae Gogs

Sorry for the late reply.... I have been taking in the sun on the west coast ('cos West is best) Stopped off at Gorseinon RFC so the boy could be 1/2p for 10 mins and kick a ball over the posts (bandit country for me .....being a Terk). Nice to see that 1/2p has given back to the club...... he has donated money and had a new pavilion built for the club..... quite a contrast against the breeze block dug outs with "Home" & "Away" painted on them He might want to donate some money for some new turf and soil!!

DHY:- Yes, that sounds right .... I am suprised that there were only one or two, mind?

Hwyl,

Its number two ...thats the one I was after.

There is a "Brass" RWY being sold as DHY on eBay at the moment (Erictheviking31)..... that is the same POWFs.

Here it is against the 10thH OSD collar I bought the other day.... and also the DHY Officers with the 10thH OSD Collar.

Lovely set there is the small Gaunt mark 11m in width? They must have worn this badge in 1945?
