Default Yet another motto thread

Picked up yesterday as a swap, I like it and I think it looks most like a Gaunt? but ummarked in white metal, with lugs on the ends of the bones. As always any opinions will be much appreciated.

I sometimes wonder how many mottos each soldier in the 17th and 17th/21st had as there seem to be millions floating about.

Though sadly that seems to include many that are fakes/copies.

Lets hope these are not.

Nice Early Cold War motto.... I dont have that one.... I have the one with the loops closer in but not the hip ends .....its by Gaunt BTW.

** It could be the Belt buckle motto.... of that period, or another Off's Beret motto with the loops in a different placement?

Below is the Other Ranks beret Motto with slider.... (also found "chromed")

Thanks Griff, good to see I could tell it was a good one and I did think that it was a Gaunt as I mentioned in my opening post, so I am very pleased to get a good one and to ID it as such and the maker. Thanks to you and your generous sharing of information, images and your opinion.

As satisfying as that would be Griff and no doubt well worth it for your help in educating me, it sort of defeats the object of studying the subject if I then gift the object of my research to you. Be assured your help is very much appreciated and hopefully the warm satisfied feeling that must give you is I hope sufficient reward for your efforts, that and the public acknowledgement and acclaim that brings to you. If I decide to move it on I will give you first shout on it.

I am crushed and at the same time thankful that you would, indeed, think of me first Jerry

Perhaps a new Motto is in order Jerry - "If in doubt ask Griff". Alas I fear that will be copied too...enjoyed the thread and banter, cheers from Atlanta, Dean.

You are probably correct Dean, fakes of the new motto are already appearing on the bay as I post this.
