Paul,
the badge looks like a knock up to me, a reproduction ORs bi-metal badge with an incorrect plate mounted onto it and in the wrong position? "3D"?

Default Manchester badge

Ronb
Unfortunately! Or not. I was still in primary school in the 70s, i do know that the only VB badge to the Manchesters that was officially bimetal was to the 2VB and the manchester scroll for VB's was lower set,but i have came across a medal group to the WKents at a fair that had a similar application of the VB tablet on a regulars badge which was explained to me by the dealer that on large recruitment drives a tablet was applied to the regulars issue badge due to shortages of volunteers badges, i was hoping this was the case with this but im now feeling i fell for a bit of bullsh#t, I didnt buy the medal group and this badge didnt harm my wallet .
Thanks
Paul

Paul,

Some dealers are full of c--p and know considerably less than most experienced collectors, the trick is to find the good guys amongst the dealers.

I have a similar one for the 1st VB, with the plaque in the same position. I posted it here some while ago and it was declared a dud too. Unfortunately, my photos are too big to post, but I believe they're on here somewhere.

Oh, I see it worked after all. Here's the link to my original thread where there's an interesting discussion about Manchesters badges:
