Can someone help me please?
My father, Thomas Ainsworth, was a Leading Convoy Signalman in the RCN. He was aboard the Belgian Merchant Ship, Emile Francqui when she was sunk on Dec. 16, 1942 while part of Convoy 153. He survived with 15-20 of his shipmates. He currently resides with me in Johnson City, TN.
While in Hamilton, Ontario recently I attended an air show and was able to purchase an RCN uniform cap like he wore while in the RCN. It is missing the ribbon HMCS that went around the base. I would like to locate one if possible to purchase for a Christmas gift. I would also like to locate and purchase the "Leading Convoy Signalman" patches he would have worn on his uniform during this period. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me, Thomas R. Ainsworth, by pm or feel free to call at (423) 767-0757. My father Thomas Ainsworth proudly served in the RCN until the end of WW II and was involved with approximately 40 convoys across the N. Atlantic during the war. He is 90 years old now and looks back at his time in the RCN with fond memories. I believe this gift will give him great joy! Thank you for your time and consideration. *Email address edited to prevent spammers, etc.* Last edited by Bill A; 06-11-11 at 04:59 PM. Reason: edited out email |
