14th/20th King's Hussars
I hope I am not being a pest but I am after some information on a 14th/20th King's Hussars blackened A/A badge with the head facing right. and the orb and sceptre held differently.
Is this an original cap badge or a fake or a manufacturer's error? Maker's mark: Firmin. London Thank you in anticipation. Best regards, Ian |

The seller is a member of this forum and someone who I consider especially knowledgeable on AA’s. I’m sure he can answer all your questions on it as well as anyone can.

A scarce version, but probably a manufacturer’s error?

Hi Ian,
Thanks Tim for putting a link for members to look at. There is also another thread which covers this strange bird. If you search under the thread "14th /20th Hussars (head facing right)" you will get some more info. Apologies I can't remember how to put a link on the message! My personal opinion is that is a Firmin manufacturers error. There I suspect there may have been a short run of these made before someone realised there had been a cock up! Still, a scarce anodised "Hawk" and one that is not found in many collections. Would appreciate if members wouldn't use my pictures on their posts on the Forum. Kind Regards Colin |

Hi Colin,
Thank you for your comments. As a fairly new collector I was trying to get some info on what to me is a very interesting badge. I apologise if I have offended you by using your photos. I only used them to help me with my query. Regards, Ian |

Luke H,
I just asked a question about a badge that was new to me and different to the one I was aware of. At no time have I doubted the seller's integrity or even mentioned him in my query. I have already apologised to Colin for the use of his photos. Sorry if I have upset anyone else on this Forum. Amazing what a simple question can lead to. Ian |

I think you’ve taken offence to my comments where none is intended. I’m certainly not upset and did not say that you doubted anyone’s integrity. Merely my last sentence was me simply summing up my own experiences and observations. Now I think we should leave it there. |

Luke H,
Just before we leave it there one final comment. I have bought quite a number of items from Colin and I have always been very satisfied with them. In fact Colin has been very helpful when he inadvertently sent me the wrong item. All I wanted was infornmtion on a badge that I was unaware existed. Now we can leave it at that. With this badge,i always wondered if they used the 6GR arm badge die in error or the one half of the old 14/20th collar die
in error. |

This also turns up on slider, I don't know whether it's a genuine or made for collectors job.
